From increasing recovery time in rehabilitation to training surgeons and offering new forms of psychological therapy, Immersive technology offers a new frontier in improving health and wellbeing. One of the most successful applications of virtual reality in healthcare has been in pain management and is demonstrating its potential as a viable alternative to opioids.


Join Immerse UK, Barclays Eagle Labs and Hatsumi for an evening of talks, demos and conversation exploring the future of pain management and the emerging new world of digital pharmaceuticals.

Barclays Eagle Labs
Barclays Eagle Labs begun from a simple idea of re-purposing under-used Barclays’s space, our network of Eagle Labs has expanded quickly since our launch in 2015. Our mission is to fuel the UK’s entrepreneurial community by accelerating high-growth businesses through collaborative innovation and provide access to emerging technologies.



Hatsumi is a research and design studio exploring the intersection of arts, health and immersive technology. We work with creative technologists, researchers and healthcare professionals to develop experiences that challenge how we think and feel about the world, and imagine the future of health and wellbeing.

Rosie Collins, Founder and Creative Director at The Fred Company
Rosie is the founder of FRED, a company providing community engagement and wellbeing innovations, combining technology, behavioural science, and play. We partner with organisations from the NHS, to multinational commercial clients, and collaborate with industry-leading technical and scientific partners to deliver new, exciting interventions.





Ivan Phelan, Sheffield Hallam University
Ivan works as a Research Associate in Games and App development in Sheffield Hallam’s Research Institute C3RI. He has achieved awards from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Sheffield Hallam’s Creative Spark, GamesRepublic via Rockstar Leeds and People Driven Digital Awards 2015 for his work.
His primary area of expertise is in Unity and C# which are great tools to create fast functional prototypes. Currently, his research focus is in virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality and how health technology can be used for rehabilitation.
Some of the projects he is currently involved with include virtual reality training projects, exploring virtual reality prosthetics, apps and game prototypes for local businesses.




Glenn Hapgood, ReScape
Glenn has worked within the media industry for over 10 years in various senior roles from creative to operations director.
In February 2017 Glenn joined the Orchard Media and Events Group Ltd to lead their Immersive Tech department (Orchard 360) and has gone on to establish them as an industry leader in this space.
Glenn founder member of Rescape in 2018 after the project was incubated within Orchard Media. He brings expert knowledge of VR/AR and in-depth experience of how healthcare experts and patients are using VR distraction therapy. He has been instrumental in both design and execution of the DR.VR product
Rescape are currently working on the next generation of products and Glenn is personally overseeing 26 different projects in healthcare from apps, immersive tech and wearables
