Energy sector innovators can help drive the UK's Ageing Society Grand Challenge

Knowledge Transfer Network are looking for innovators from the energy sector to help drive the UK’s Ageing Society Grand Challenge.

More than 10 million people in the UK today can expect to see their 100th birthday, compared to the 15,000 centurions today. Ageing populations are a global phenomenon that are creating new opportunities for products and services, including beautiful products that older consumer find easy and enjoyable to use, different housing models and innovative savings products for later life.

Through its Ageing Society Grand Challenge the government has committed to invest in harnessing the power of innovation to meet the needs and develop the opportunities that result from demographic change.

The Healthy Ageing Grand Challenge is supported by the Healthy Ageing Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF), which has set aside £98 million to drive development of new solutions that will help people live in their homes for longer and increase their independence and wellbeing.

Innovators from the health and energy sectors are invited to register their interest in attending the following ISCF Healthy Ageing Pre-Competition Briefing Events.

Exeter, 26th April (event now completed)

Birmingham, 2nd May (Register here)

Delegates at the events will be able to learn more about the Challenge and will have the opportunity to form consortia to work on a bid.
