Innovate UK and KTN at the Factories of the Future expo

KTN and Innovate UK hosted stands at the Factories of the Future expo in Manchester, linking new ideas with funding, solutions and expertise.

On a cold and snowy Manchester day, Simon Yarwood from the KTN’s Enabling Technologies team arrived in Manchester to oversee final build and installation of the Innovate UK stand and the KTN Innovation Showcase stand, at the Factories of the Future expo.

Despite the weather, the show still saw significant numbers through the doors, and a packed auditorium heard from the likes of Siemens, Tharsus, ABB and Innovate UK. The KTN were involved in two panel seasons and also gave two talks, which covered how the KTN can help business and the amazing opportunity in Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.

For the Innovate UK stand, KTN worked with Lynne Mcgregor at Innovate UK and colleagues at the High Value Manufacturing Catapult to identify interesting projects in the world of Industry 4.0 and logistics. Seven projects represented dozens of companies, from Corporates to Small businesses.

The other element of the show presence was an Innovation Showcase, where innovative SMEs that form parts of the Industry 4.0 supply chain, were able to show their products and services and make new business connections. Nine SMEs braved the weather and networked with delegates and exhibitors on our stand, which included;

  • RFID Direct
  • Reeco
  • Homeodynamic Autonomy Limited
  • Metis Labs
  • Beacon Zone
  • Flexciton
  • FDM Digital Solutions
  • Clearchain
  • Active Data Metrics
