Leadership training for the bio industries

Posted on: 04/04/2018

UCL’s Vision Programme is uniquely tailored for the bioindustry to capture the synergies between bioscience, technology & business practice.

In rapidly evolving technology driven bioindustries, leaders are facing challenging tasks of developing and adapting to new business models, identifying cutting edge research which can cost effectively translate to production level, devising and implementing strategies that can be implanted within the global regulatory, marketing and sociopolitical landscapes.

UCL Biochemical Engineering pioneered the VISION Leadership Programme in 2010 to fill a gap in the market they had identified together with their industrial partners to cater specifically for individuals in the bioindustry. It is therefore more focused than the more traditional leadership courses. For the last 2 years they have successfully run the course in the USA and will be returning to UCL for 2018.

Designed for talented high impact individuals, VISION provides key leadership insights tailored for present & future leaders in the bioindustries through rigorous intellectual analysis & intensive, practical, peer-to-peer action-based learning giving you the tools required to drive innovation, entrepreneurship & global leadership in your organisation.

“What sets the VISION programme apart from other courses in the leadership & innovation space is the bioindustry- focused approach, teaching through real cases studies taught by current leaders who have experienced first-hand how it is done & what pitfalls to avoid.”

Charles Cooney, Professor, MIT said:

“VISION at UCL provides an opportunity for senior leaders in the life science industries to do a deep dive into the current & pressing issue of this industry. The interactive three day format provides a forum to ask the difficult questions at the heart of this dynamic industry & explore innovative solutions. Why, at a time of unprecedented scientific discovery is the research productivity of the industry falling? How can we extract, translate & apply the lessons from building new companies into an established industry? The focus on innovation in a virtual & politically diverse world provides real-time learning. The participants bring a diverse perspective on the issues facing the industry & the resulting discussion provided fascinating & insightful answers that greatly sharpened by thinking on problems at hand. As a consequence of the interaction with colleagues & faculty, this course builds a community that together develop a deeper understanding of the issues as well as the strategies to navigate the path forward.”

The course will run on 10-12 October 2018 at University College London. You can find out more about the Vision Programme here.
