Mondelez UK seeks academic partners for Collaborative Training Partnerships

Posted on: 02/10/2018

Mondelēz UK would like to develop PhD studentships with academic partners who wish to engage with the food industry.

Collaborative Training Partnerships (CTP) are one of the main ways in which BBSRC funds collaborative training and enables businesses to better integrate studentships into their planning cycles. The vision is to provide PhD students with a first-rate, challenging research training experience within the context of a mutually beneficial research collaboration, between academic and partner organisations.

Mondelƒìz¬†is one of the world’s largest snack companies¬†with well-known brands such as Cadbury, Bournvita and Oreo. Mondelez UK has been successful in gaining several CTP awards and would like to develop studentships in the following areas:

  • Understanding protein impact on soft wheat flour functionality. Apply protein markers in wheat breeding of soft wheat flour.
  • Evaluating the impact of combinations of dietary fibres on digestive tolerance.
  • Microbial communities in the food chain: application of whole genome sequencing and metagenomics to investigate interactions between pathogens, commensal bacteria and the food manufacturing environment.
  • Digestive impact of using rare sugars in sucrose-containing and sucrose-free food systems.

They are currently looking for exciting approaches from academic supervisors with a genuine desire to engage with the food industry and would welcome interest from various areas. Possible disciplines will be in Bioscience, Food Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Natural Chemistry, Chemical/Biochemical/Process Engineering or related areas.

The deadline for responses is 16th November 2018.

Please email agrifood@ktn-uk.org for further details on each studentship.
