Showcasing industry innovation in food technology

KTN and Innovate UK are hosting the 2019 Food Industry Innovation FoodTech Showcase on Thursday 21st March in London.

Food technologies (FoodTech) have the potential to transform the production, transportation, and preparation of food,  providing potential solutions to the challenges of growing global demand for safe and sustainable sources of food, and increased consumer awareness of health, nutrition and traceability issues.

Following on from the successful inaugural Food Industry Innovation 2018 (FII2018) event KTN is working with Innovate UK to host Food Industry Innovation 2019 (FII2019), taking place in London on 21st March 2019. This event will focus on high growth potential SMEs in the FoodTech space, and will feature a FoodTech Showcase, expert speakers, and a business support zone.

Applications now open for FoodTech Showcase

UK-based high growth FoodTech* SMEs who are seeking investment are invited to apply to take part in the FII2019 FoodTech Showcase. Twelve SMEs will be selected to receive two days of Accelerator Training Programme and Pitch Training, plus mentoring from KTN experts. This training includes;

  • Defining your value proposition
  • Pitching skills
  • Business plans for investors

A number of these companies will then be invited to pitch to a panel at FII2019 which will include an invited investor audience.

Additionally, via a competitive process up to 12 UK-based high growth SMEs will also be invited to have complimentary table top space at FII2019 to showcase their innovative products to the audience. SME’s can apply for a table top space at the FII2018 FoodTech Showcase hereThe deadline for applications is 28th February 2019. * FoodTech is defined as how we use new technology or processes to create an efficient, sustainable ecosystem for producing, transporting, preparing and cooking food.

Thought leadership presentations on industry challenges

Expert speakers will address three main themes:

  • Theme 1: Food manufacturing and process efficiency – where can efficiencies be made?
  • Theme 2: Food product development – how do we make desirable “healthier food”?
  • Theme 3: Food supply chain – getting the supply chain to work better, together

Business Support Zone

Throughout the day the Innovate UK family (and wider community) will be available for meetings via drop in sessions. Delegates can also pre-book meetings with other attendees via our 1-to-1 short meeting platform.
