UK businesses can apply for a share of up to £5 million to develop High Value Manufacturing and Artificial Intelligence Supported Design products with Canadian partners

Posted on: 07/02/2019

Up to £5m is available for UK-Canada manufacturing collaborations involving high value manufacturing and AI-supported design.

A business led collaboration between UK and Canada has been announced by Innovate UK as part of UKRI, the National Research Council Canada (NRC) and Industrial Research Assistance Programme (IRAP).

A combined investment of £5m between the two countries will be available for both large and small companies to develop or deploy commercially viable High Value Manufacturing (HVM) and Artificial Intelligence Supported Design products and services.

The pre-commercial technologies element of this fund will be focused, in particular, on artificial intelligence supported design of HVM technologies, processes, products and services.

Businesses have the opportunity to apply for funding for business-led Collaborative R&D (CR&D) projects, allowing UK and Canadian partners to develop innovative ideas to be exploited in large global markets.

Innovating with Canada provides opportunities for UK businesses to:

(1) co-develop and supply innovative goods and services into the larger companies that drive the Canadian economy;

(2) increase their own technological abilities and productivity within the UK; and

(3) form strong relationships with Canadian partners to access global business opportunities jointly.
