Update on Nanosurfaces 2019

KTN is co-sponsor of the Nanosurfaces event, which will showcase a range of nano-enhanced surface technologies to present the state of the art in physical and chemical surface modification and enhancement. Properties which will be discussed include thermal, optical, electronic, water and gas permeation resistance.
The event provides a great opportunity to discover developments in nano-enabled surface science using physical and chemical surface modification. The focus will be on solving real-world challenges through nanosurfaces, such as invisible waterproofing of electronic devices, functional surfaces for light production and solar energy harvesting, as well as corrosion, wear and antimicrobial resistance, and printed electronics. The event will appeal to a range of industry and academia, including engineering, manufacturing, transport, energy and medical devices. It will also provide a platform for networking and partnering. The event is targeted at technology commercialisation professionals, entrepreneurs, research partners, commercial partners and technology consultants.
The day’s first session will be chaired by Dr. Martin Kemp of the IOM3 Nanomaterials Committee, which will include a keynote from Dr. Angeliki Elina Siokou (P2i Ltd) on ‘Water protection technologies for smartphones and beyond’. It will also feature presentations from Dr James Dutson (PlasmaQuest) on ‘Enhancement in the reactive deposition process using remote plasma sputtering’, and the Chairman of Molecular Plasma Group, Marc Jacobs on Molecular Plasma Technology. Other topics covered in the first session include robust superhydrophobic surfaces and nanoclusters, from Manish Tiwari (UCL) and Professor Richard Palmer (Swansea University) respectively.
The day’s second session will see talks from Dr Alistair Kean (Nika Works Ltd) on ‘A radically new antimicrobial nanosurface formed by plasma processing’ and Dr Stephen Hodge (Versarien plc) on ‘Graphene Enhanced Products’. In addition to a poster session and pitches, there will also be talks on ‘Virtual Cathode Deposition’ from Dr Dmitry Yarmolich (Plasma App Ltd.), ‘Enhanced Surface-analysis Capability’ from Mike Petty (Loughborough Surface Analysis Ltd.) and Jeremy Ramsden (University of Buckingham) will discuss ‘Photocatalytic Antimicrobial Surfaces’.
