Knowledge Transfer Advisor, Fife and Tayside

Profile overview

Dr Lorna Howarth is the KTA (Knowledge Transfer Advisor) for Fife and Tayside where she is actively involved in developing KTP’s (Knowledge Transfer Partnerships) between local business and academia. Prior to joining the KTN, Dr Howarth gained nearly eight years experience at The Industrial Innovation Centre, Sultanate of Oman where she built and developed a large portfolio of successful innovative industrial R&D projects as part of the Omani governments ‘Industrial Innovation Assistance Program’. An initiative designed to drive economic growth by providing technical and financial support to help boost the productivity of Omani SME’s. Before travelling abroad, Lorna was a Research Associate at NottinghamTrent University, where she worked on a water amelioration project run in collaboration with Severn Trent Water. She also spent several years in various roles at Defence Estates, MOD. Lorna graduated from Bangor University with a BSc(Hons) in Biology, a MSc in Ecology and a PhD in Biogeochemistry.
