Mick Card

Knowledge Transfer Adviser - North Wales, Merseyside and West Cheshire

I am a Knowledge Transfer Adviser for North Wales, Merseyside and West Cheshire.

The Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) support businesses to engage with expert academic teams on a project-based collaboration delivering sustainable innovation with positive economic impact and additional societal or environmental benefits. I look after businesses supporting their projects with knowledge bases in many parts of the country. I also maintain relationships with a number of designated universities in relation to their participation in the programme.

I am a consultant to the North Wales Business Council, a member of the Welsh Optoelectronics Forum and a non-Executive Director of several companies.

With a background managing strategic development, new business ventures, finance and legal functions in private and public sector organisations, I have set up over £2bn of multi-party projects and funding, and was a key member of one of the UK’s most successful management buyouts. I have also served on executive boards of G.E Capital, Stagecoach Holdings and Abbey National companies.

I have been working with businesses, Government and Universities since 2005 to deliver R&D and economic development programmes across Wales and the North West.
